Goalie tackles opponent during high school girls soccer game

Wrong sport.

A North Carolina high school goalkeeper has been suspended for two games after a flagrant foul in a women’s soccer game on Thursday.

Cassie Sturtz from Pine Forest High School charged forward out of her goal to tackle Pinecrest High School’s Riley Barrett, according to the Fayette Observer, leaping into the air and taking down her opponent.

Sturtz wasn’t initially penalized but was suspended after the game, according to Ernie Fisher, the regional supervisor for soccer officials in the Cape Fear region.

We’d say she should take up football instead, but that vicious hit would have gotten her a targeting penalty too.
